The iconic cartoon of our childhood “The Lion King” just celebrated his 30th year anniversary, and Disney contacted Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing to create a capsule collection for the occasion. Ready to wear designs as well as genderless accessories will be featured in a short film shot in South Africa by Femi Oladigbolu. Weaving together the designs, the incredible scenery and Rousteing’s take on the fashion house, with models coming from all across Africa.

To honour the 30th anniversary of the movie as well as the upcoming release in theater of the prequel “Mufasa: The Lion King” in December, the two brands reunited their universe in an exclusive collection. Balmain’s unique DNA merges with Disney’s timeless classic to present signature Balmain silhouettes crafted with impressive tailoring skills and a refelction on Olivier Rousteing personal story and relationship with the movie. African artistry is central to the designer’s fashion identity, as seen on the Parisian runways. Stunning weavings, patterns and embroideries grace striking silhouettes.

The Disney X Balmain: The Lion King collection will launch on July 8th online and across the globe at Balmain addresses and in world’s leading fashion boutiques. Several pop-up stores will open in major cities proposing the collection to the public.
