DAGGER, the young Berlin-based fashion brand, founded by Luke Rainey becomes a family business as his fiancé’ Marvin Lobodda, a Berlin-based creative in his own right, officially joins the brand. Together they announce the launch of their fourth instalment, “I.D. PLEASE.” This distinctive collection will debut exclusively at the opening of Dover Street Market Paris which marks a significant milestone for DAGGER.

A Symbol of Resilience and Transformation

Born out of adversity during the COVID-19 pandemic, DAGGER has become a symbol of resilience and transformation since founder Luke Rainey faced an unexpected job loss. Armed with nothing but three months of Job Seekers Allowance, Luke took the final sentence from his job dismissal letter “We wish you all the best with your professional future and personal wellbeing” literally, and printed it on the back of tees in his cramped Neukölln kitchen. This became what is now known as the “core” tee, birthing the brand’s slogan, “all the best.”

Operating beyond the confines of the traditional fashion calendar, the brand releases collections in installments.

“Installment NO.4 – I.D. PLEASE”: A Confronting Exploration

The “I.D. PLEASE” collection is a confronting exploration into authenticity, self-discovery, and re-discovery in an era starved for genuine experiences. It introduces wash techniques that imbue garments with an authentic resonance, capturing the essence of a “life well-lived.”

Featuring a Red, Black, and White palette, the 11-piece collection spotlights core logo jersey pieces, displaying the brand’s infamous slogan “We wish you all the best with your professional future and personal wellbeing” . We see even more oversized silhouettes as well as original artwork heavily inspired by the hard-core-scene. Noteworthy additions include the brand’s first pant, named “Big Bags,” paying homage to teenage slang from Luke’s Northern Irish roots. Hand-knitted beanies from Amsterdam add a personal touch, each one a unique piece that embodies the brand’s commitment to offering clothing as distinctive as the wearer.

Inclusivity and Acceptance: A Commitment from a Queer-Owned Brand

As a queer-owned brand, DAGGER is steadfast in making a profound impact by fostering inclusivity and acceptance. “I.D. PLEASE” celebrates every facet that may not conform to societal stereotypes, inviting individuals to explore their authentic selves and embrace the journey of self-discovery.

The collection suggests that the journey of self-discovery begins at birth, with unfamiliar roads illuminated by both brightly lit and intensely dark paths. In an era yearning for authenticity, it serves as a metaphorical companion for those navigating the journey of self-discovery in a world that often feels like a stolen car, speeding over the limit.

DAGGER extends an open invitation to connect with the brand and experience the “I.D. PLEASE” collection firsthand, online at dagger.store and exclusively at the Dover Street Market’s new store from today.
